How Spirited Crafts Began

When people ask me how Spirited Crafts began, they usually assume I always planned to own a handmade business.
The truth is... I didn't.
Like many things in life, it started with one small moment that changed the direction of everything.
At the time, I was taking classes to learn more about crystals, herbs, essential oils, and the different ways people have used them throughout history. I wasn't taking the classes because I wanted to start a business. I was taking them because I genuinely wanted to learn.
One day I created a blend that eventually became my Self Love & Protection oil.
I absolutely loved it.
I shared it with a friend, and after trying it, she looked at me and said,
"You could sell this."
It was such a simple sentence, but it planted a seed.
Around that same time, it seemed like everyone was talking about starting online businesses through dropshipping. I looked into it. I researched it. I even considered giving it a try.
But something never felt right.
It didn't bring me joy.
If I was going to build something, I wanted it to be something I created with my own hands.
So I asked myself,
"If I'm going to sell the oils... what else could I create?"
The answer surprised me.
Jewelry.
The funny part is... I had never made jewelry before.
Not once.
I simply believed I could learn.
So I bought a few supplies and started experimenting.
Creating something with my own hands felt so much more meaningful than selling something I had never touched.
Looking back at those very first earrings makes me smile.
Let's just say... they were a wonderful learning experience.
Today, the pieces I create are worlds apart from where I began, and I love seeing how much I've grown through practice, patience, and a willingness to keep learning.
Over the years, Spirited Crafts has continued to grow alongside me.
I've added crystal jewelry, bath salts, wood-burned creations, and even tried my hand at wreath making—which I absolutely loved. While shipping them turned out to be more challenging than I expected, they're something I still hope to bring to local craft shows.
More recently, I've begun designing my own print-on-demand products, allowing me to share my artwork in new ways while continuing to create handmade pieces.
No matter what I'm making, I try to look at everything through the eyes of the person receiving it. Whether I'm designing a new piece, carefully packaging an order, or deciding what little extras to include, I always find myself asking one simple question:
"What would I think if I received this?"
I want every package to feel like it was created with intention and care, because that's exactly how I hope someone feels when they open it.
And now...
I'm working on something that feels especially close to my heart.
A guided journal.
Throughout my own healing journey, I've learned how powerful it can be to pause, reflect, and gently shift the way we speak to ourselves.
If something I've learned can help someone else find a little more peace, a little more confidence, or simply remind them they aren't alone, then sharing that journey feels worthwhile.
Looking back now, it's amazing to realize that everything started because one friend believed in me enough to say four simple words:
"You could sell this."
Sometimes the biggest changes in our lives don't begin with a grand plan.
Sometimes they begin with a tiny spark...
...and the courage to see where it leads.
I'd love to know... has one small moment or one encouraging comment ever changed the direction of your life? I'd love to hear your story in the comments. 💛
